I believe that friendliness and happiness are overlooked qualities in successful consultants and employees.
Most people spend a great deal of their lives at the office, in a mediocre or depressive state. They wake up just in time to get ready for work, jump on the train, read their daily dose of the world's misery, get into work, and after the obligatory greetings, slump on their desk and get down to it. At the end of the day, they drift home low on energy from their depressive state, slob on the couch with a beer, and go off to sleep ready for another day of misery.
Sound exciting? I know I am painting an exaggerated image here, but I'm sure you appreciate what I mean.
It is a well known fact that people learn and work better in an environment that is happy and light-hearted. I believe that those who lighten up the office by spreading happiness and humour are doing everyone a great favour. Maybe at school the "class clown" should have be encouraged rather than reprimanded?
Think back to your past experiences in life, can you think of many depressed and stressed-out people who had a positive impact on your life and your decision making?
